The golden rule is inherently flawed. Treating others how you want to be treated doesn’t work because they aren’t you…
I always preferred the platinum rule: treat others the way they want to be treated.
That’s a very surface level reading of the golden rule…
“Treat others how they wish to be treated, bearing in mind how you feel when you are mistreated” just doesn’t roll off the tongue in the same way.

Yes, but this expands on it in a way that I like. Saying it this way emphasizes that it’s okay to acknowledge limits to what you can do.
