No, the Irish war of independence was 1916-1920 and was mostly fighting with guns. The car bombs was much later during the troubles and was about northern Ireland.

Not to be that guy. But Great Britain refers to mainline England, Scotland, Wales. The term you’re looking for is the United Kingdom.

Britain is the geographical location. The United Kingdom is the country.
Hence the full name of The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
