We had cheap laptops and USB microphones back then. I had a set up with digital audio converter, a couple mics going to laptop set up was about $200-$250 w/out laptop and I had a separate boss br-532 8 track recorder I picked up used for like $300. I’m sure if I was more frugal I could’ve gone a lot cheaper.
