Not as prevalent these days, but a lot of EMR/EHR was built on XP. Some of those companies went out of business and the clinics using the software never upgraded because they couldn’t get the data out into another system.

It’s a tale as old as bosses. Many of them have big egos and think that because they’re in charge that magically gives them expertise. So if you want to do something you either get them looking at something shiny or you make them think it’s their idea.

I had a boss like that ages ago. If I wanted to work on something out of the ordinary I would plant the idea, then a few weeks later I would remind him that he brought it up a while ago. I used the fact that he had a million things going on so he never really remembered who brought it up. I didn’t care that he got the credit because I got to work on cool things and expand my repertoire.

Brother is the only printer company I like. I’ve had a workhorse for ages and it is still going strong.

I have the K10 Pro. The K series are great keyboards. Right now mine is mostly stock (red switches, and I changed out WASD even though I don’t really do computer gaming because it reminds me of my misspent youth) because every week I decide on a different switch and keycap combination. Last week I wanted black and purple with super loud clickity clacks. The week before I wanted something silent in light grey, dark grey, and red. Today I was thinking about getting vintage looking typewriter caps.

Buc-ees (a Texas gas station chain) has been expanding beyond Texas recently. I’ve driven all over the US and have never seen anything quite like them anywhere else. The gas is cheap, they have their worker salaries posted (and are way above what other similar places pay), they’re incredibly clean, their bathrooms are huge and immaculate, they have restaurant quality food, halfway decent barbecue, a whole home goods/apparel section, a huge variety of snacks, and a load of merchandise (from rocking chairs to roto molded coolers to huge grills and smokers).

It is part of the state identity. With the expansion I bet it will become part of the southeastern regional identity. And if you’re near one it’s worth stopping at.

Yeah, I do. Right after I got done doing it for work the singer in our band booked us at Trees. So I spent all that time driving back and forth, then drove out on Saturday with a car full of equipment.

It’s not like it was a big deal and that’s such a fun venue. I had a great time. I just can’t think of it without remembering that drive haha.

I hope you had a place to store your equipment there so you didn’t have to load and unload everyday at least. Doing that every day would have been my nightmare.

I grew up in Podunk Northeast Texas so I have the drawl. But I left and spent a lot of time all up and down the eastern seaboard married to a woman that grew up out west. So my brain added every affectation I ran across to the drawl.

Now I have the long vowel sounds in a fairly rapid speech pattern, do the weird O sound they use in South Carolina, will occasionally pronounce house like I’m from Ontario, and have a hard time saying my first name if I don’t concentrate.

I still sound mostly like a shoeless Texas hillbilly bootlegger but with a bunch of exceptions. So it makes me sound drunk as hell, until I am drunk. Then the exceptions leave and I sound like I just got off work at the oil rig and I’m headed to the strip club to cheat on my wife before heading back to the trailer.

Sounds like when I lived in Tyler and had to work in the DFW Metro for a job. I spent months driving back and forth. Luckily my travel was paid.

You two are overlooking the most important thing. It might be fun to crazily rip out the cables then make a junior guy go trace and repatch it all. The opportunity to legitimately do that doesn’t come along often.
